Memorial Day – Thank You

American FlagMemorial Day was declared a national holiday in 1971 to honor the men and women who died while serving in the armed forces.  In 1999 Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members past and present.

Thank You to all of the men and women who have served our country.  I am grateful for your courage and sacrifice.

It is unfortunate that there is a high occurrence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among those who have served.  PTSD also impacts many others including fire fighters, police officers and potentially anyone who has experienced a terrifying ordeal involving physical harm or the threat of physical harm or when a loved one is harmed or has died.

The National Institute of Mental Health estimates PTSD affects about 7.7 million people.  Common treatment recommendations for PTSD include talk therapy and medications.  Another, and less well known, option for improving brain function following PTSD is Brainwave Optimization.  Lee Gerdes, founder of Brain State Technologies, developed Brainwave Optimization after his own struggles with PTSD.

We learned about this technology a couple of years ago and our family has seen some tremendous benefits from optimization.  We were so impressed with the technology and the clinical studies that my husband and a partner, Dr. Virginia Dotson, opened an optimization clinic, Ideal Brain LLC in Mequon, WI.  Having served as a Marine, my husband is strongly supportive of those who have served our country.  Veterans affected by PTSD receive a 50% discount on Ideal Brain LLC optimization services as a way to honor and assist our veterans.

Happy Memorial Day!
